Summarized Review Highlights

Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts has an overwhelmingly positive reputation among guests, with nearly every reviewer awarding a perfect five-star rating. What stands out most is the depth of loyalty the operation has earned: a large number of reviewers have been returning annually for 10, 20, or even 30-plus years, and several describe it as the best fly-in outfitter they have ever used after trying multiple competitors across Canada. Owners Dave and Michelle, along with their son Jon and the broader staff, are mentioned by name in review after review as warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in each group's experience. Specific examples of service cited include flying in replacement fuses the same day a cabin lost power, arranging a same-day alcohol delivery by satellite phone request, and arranging an early extraction when a guest had a family emergency at home — all without being asked or without complaint.

Guests consistently praise the quality and variety of fishing across the outpost lakes, with walleye and northern pike being the primary targets. Fish counts in the hundreds over a few days are commonly reported, along with trophy-sized specimens including pike over 40 inches and walleye approaching 27 inches. The catch-and-release policy implemented by the owners is credited by long-time guests for the steady improvement in fish size and population over the decades. Cabins are described as clean, well-maintained, and regularly upgraded, with modern amenities including solar power, hot water, freezers, and the ability to charge electronics. Boats and motors receive consistent praise for being reliable and well-kept. The remote, wilderness setting — private lakes, dark skies, loons, wildlife, and no internet — is a major draw that guests return to specifically for the chance to disconnect. Several reviewers note that guests are responsible for bringing their own food and drink, which is standard for self-catering outpost camps and not a complaint, just something first-timers should be aware of.

Genuine complaints are rare to nonexistent in this review set. The only mild note of disappointment came from one group that experienced poor weather — rain and high winds — during a late-August trip, though the reviewer acknowledged that late-season weather variability is simply a known risk. One cabin at Malaher Lake was described as "a bit aged" though "upgraded well," and one group noted a water pump issue that was resolved quickly by the staff. One reviewer also mentioned losing large pike at the boat due to undersized nets, which is a practical tip for future guests rather than a criticism of the outfitter. This destination is best suited for groups of fishing friends or families who want a true remote fly-in experience with private lake access, strong walleye and northern pike fishing, and a self-sufficient outpost setup. It appeals equally to seasoned Canadian fishing veterans and first-timers, and several reviewers specifically highlight it as a great choice for introducing children or spouses to fly-in fishing.

Quality operation, first class all the way!
I was lucky enough to first fly-in to Onepine Lake outpost back in the early 1980's. Glen McLeod was the owner of the outposts at Onepine, Larus, Lount, and, I believe, Cairns Lakes. Glen was old-school when it came to outpost accommodations! The bare minimum! We caught fish and had a roof over our heads at night but nothing like the trips with Nestor Falls Fly-in Outposts today! Since Dave and Michelle took over in 1989, these, and the other outposts that they have added to their accommodation list, have certainly become the standard all other outfitters strive to imitate in northwest Ontario fishing outposts! Their cabins, aircraft, professionalism, and attention to every detail are unmatched in making your fishing trip successful. And that's without mentioning the fishing! Which, since Dave introduced "Catch and Release" at his outposts, has become one of your best opportunites to catch the "fish of a lifetime"! As I stated, I have been lucky to have been able to make many, many fishing trips to Nestor Falls Fly-in Outposts over the last 33 years, and I have seen, firsthand, the transformation in quality and quantity of the fishery in the stewardship of Dave and Michelle Beaushene. I highly recommend you consider Nestor Falls Fly-in Outposts for a "fly-in fishing trip to remember"!!

21 Consecutive Seasons
Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts, what more could you ask for. I started coming to Canada in 1983 to find the perfect fishing adventure. For the first nine years many different camps were tried, but none met my greedy expectations, as they all seemed to lack something. In 1992 I took my first fly-in adventure to a remote lake called Onepine where we had the entire lake to ourselves and ran out of bait by the second day. It became routine to catch over 100 fish per day for each angler. I have just completed my 21st consecutive season with Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts and hopefully have several more trips in my future. Dave and Michelle have put me on six different lakes so far and I look forward to trying to fish them all. Their 'WHATEVER IT TAKES' attitude is reflective throughout their staff from the pilots and dock workers to the girls in the office and the ones cleaning the cabins. This is a first class operation that continues to provide a safe and fulfilling fishing adventure for all ages. Why not give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
