Summarized Review Highlights

Moose Point Lodge on Shikag Lake in Ontario enjoys an exceptionally strong reputation among its guests, many of whom have been returning annually for decades. The reviews reflect deep loyalty and genuine affection for the lodge, with guests consistently describing it as a place that feels like a second home. Owners Brad and Donna are mentioned by name as central to that welcoming atmosphere. The overall sentiment across all reviews is overwhelmingly positive, with no notable complaints raised.

Guests consistently praise the fishing above all else, with walleye being the standout draw. Reviewers report catching trophy-sized walleye regularly — including fish in the 27- to 32-inch range — and credit the lodge's catch-and-release practices for improving the fishery over time. Smallmouth bass and northern pike round out the options on Shikag Lake, though at least one group noted they wished they had spent more time targeting pike given how good the walleye fishing was. Guides are described as knowledgeable and effective at putting guests on fish. The shore lunch prepared from the day's catch receives particular enthusiasm. Accommodations are described as clean, comfortable, and far from rustic, and the food overall is called top notch.

There are no recurring complaints in these reviews. Every reviewer rates the experience at the highest level and several have returned for eight, twenty, or even forty-plus years. Based on what guests describe, this destination is best suited for walleye anglers of any experience level, including first-time fly-in visitors, groups of friends or family, and those looking to introduce younger anglers to fishing. The comfortable accommodations and quality food also make it a reasonable choice for guests who want a remote fishing experience without roughing it.

Over 40 years fishing Shikag Lake — better today than ever
This is one of the best Canada walleye fishing trips you will ever go on. Shikag Lake's water holds huge schools of walleye and the many islands make it a great smallmouth bass fishery. Of course there are the toothy and ever hungry northern pike too. Their knowledgeable guides will put you on plenty of fish daily. In addition, they will cook a shore lunch of your fresh catch. If there is a better lunch available anywhere, e-mail me so I can check it out! Moose Point Lodge is a Canada fly in fishing camp located on Shikag Lake, about an hour and a half's flying time from Ft. Francis Ontario. I have been fishing here for over 40 years, and I can honestly say that the fishing is better today than when I first fished it. The comfortable accommodations and food are top notch. It's a great place to expose a youngster to fishing because there will be plenty of catching! It's also a wonderful place to take a spouse, as there isn't any roughing it. Once you try it you will be "Hooked" like I am.

Finest trip in eight consecutive years fishing Ontario
Just a short note to thank you and your staff for our great trip of last June. I am a part of the Capozzi - Towns - Hill group. We had perhaps the finest trip I've experienced in the eight consecutive years I've fished in Ontario. This was my Son's second trip. The fish in the picture is his largest walleye. This fish was 27 1/2 inches. He lost a bigger one later in the week. What amazed me was that eleven of thirteen of our group caught walleyes this big or bigger. The largest of the week was 31 inches, almost matching the 32 inch walleye caught last year at Moose Point by our group. My hat is off to you, catch and consume is producing a phenomenal fishery! In retrospect I regret only that with so many PIG WALLEYES and acrobatic smallmouth bass that we failed to target Shikag Lake's northern pike. Anyway a hearty thank you to you and your staff for the twinkle in my eye that is certain to last until we again visit "the only place where time slows down" Moose Point Lodge.

This lodge is a complete gem. I've been coming for about 20 years and Brad and Donna make it feel like a second home. Just got back from another fabulous trip after three years away and I cannot wait to go again! The fishing here is absolutely superb and the accommodations are always clean and comfortable.
