Summarized Review Highlights

Amik Outposts, a family-run fly-in fishing operation based out of Red Lake, Ontario, draws consistently strong praise across reviews, with guests frequently returning year after year — in one case, for 25 consecutive seasons. The operation is run by John and Rena, who are repeatedly described as professional, responsive, and genuinely caring. One reviewer highlighted an exceptional situation where the staff helped coordinate accommodations and an emergency evacuation after a medical incident, illustrating a level of personal attention that goes well beyond typical outfitter service. The overwhelming sentiment is that this is a trustworthy, well-organized outfit that treats guests like family.

Fishing is the centerpiece of the experience, and reviews back that up with hard numbers. Guests report catching large volumes of walleye and northern pike across multiple lakes including Cobham, Shearstone, Findlay, Blackbirch, and Vee Lake. One group landed 98 walleye over 20 inches and 90 pike over 27 inches in a single week, including a 43-inch pike. Another group caught over 140 walleye in a single day. Cabins are described as comfortable and adequately stocked, with supplies like nightcrawlers and spices already on hand. Boats are noted as roomy, and logistics — including flight arrangements via a de Havilland Otter — are described as smooth and well-communicated. Rena in particular is praised for thorough pre-trip communication covering gear lists, weight limits, and travel planning.

There are no recurring complaints in the available reviews, and no guests raise concerns about lodging quality, fish counts, or operations. The one mild note is a 4-star rather than 5-star rating from a forum post, though no specific criticism is offered. Based on the reviews, this destination is best suited for groups of fishing buddies or multi-generational families who prioritize high fish counts for walleye and pike, value a remote fly-in experience, and appreciate a hands-on, personally managed operation. Repeat visitors and first-time fly-in guests both appear well-served here.

Both of you are very professional and run a seamless operation and still maintain that personal touch that sets you apart from all of the others.
