Summarized Review Highlights

Laurie River Lodge in northern Manitoba has an exceptionally strong reputation among guests, with virtually unanimous praise across dozens of reviews spanning multiple decades of visits. Many reviewers are repeat guests — some returning annually for 10, 14, or even 21 or more years — which speaks to a level of consistency that is rare in the fly-in fishing industry. Owners Brent and Erin Fleck are mentioned by name in nearly every review and are widely credited with setting the tone for the entire operation through their hands-on involvement, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality. The staff, including guides with 20 to 30-plus years of experience on these waters, receive consistent praise for their knowledge, friendliness, and patience with guests of all skill levels.

The fishing itself is the centerpiece, and guests report outstanding catches of northern pike, walleye, and lake trout across the main lake and a network of fly-out and portage lakes. Trophy-sized fish — including pike over 40 inches and 26-inch-plus walleye — come up repeatedly, and several reviewers describe catching hundreds of fish over the course of a week-long stay. The fly-out program to remote, lightly pressured lakes is a particular highlight. Beyond fishing, guests consistently praise the food (including four-course dinners and shore lunches prepared by long-tenured Cree guides), the comfortable and well-maintained private log cabins, and the overall logistics from arrival in Lynn Lake through the float plane ride into camp. A self-guided outcamp option on a private lake is also available for those seeking a more remote, independent experience, and reviewers who chose that option describe it as well-stocked and genuinely comfortable despite its wilderness setting.

There are no recurring complaints in these reviews. Even guests who were initially reluctant — those new to fishing, hesitant about remote travel, or uncertain about the wilderness setting — describe coming away fully converted. The lodge is best suited for dedicated anglers targeting trophy pike, walleye, and lake trout in a remote Canadian setting, but the comfort level of the accommodations and the patience of the guides make it accessible to less experienced anglers and non-fishing partners as well. Groups of friends, father-son or family trips, couples (including at least one honeymoon), and solo guests traveling with siblings all appear in the reviews. It is not a roughing-it experience — reviewers are explicit that the cabins are comfortable and the food well above typical fishing lodge standards — so those specifically seeking a primitive wilderness camp may want to consider the outcamp option instead.

A Fly-in Fishing Adventure of a Lifetime - Laurie River Lodge
Fly-in fishing lodges are special. The ability to have multiple fly-outs to lakes with boats ready to go and trophy fishing for whatever species you feel like catching that day is something special. We flew from Winnipeg to Lynn Lake, and Erin Fleck shuttled us from the airport to the float plane base and flew us into camp. At Laurie River Lodge, Brent and Erin have over 30 years of fishing lodge knowledge and know how to run a camp. We spent one day at Kamuchawie in search of giant lakers – jigging in 100 feet of water, landing multiple Master Angler lake trout. The next day we flew out to Runner Lake for walleye – catching ten fish in the first 20 minutes and one group landing 100 walleyes by mid-afternoon. Our guide Alfred was one of the best guides the author had ever seen, with decades of knowledge on those waters. When you combine the fly-out program with the family touch that the Flecks put on the experience, it's just a really amazing place to be. Overall, it was another trip to Laurie River Lodge that I'll never forget.

Trip of a lifetime!
Unbelievable trip, exceeded my already high hopes. The logistics worked perfectly, the Lodge and accommodations were top notch, the service and food were incredible but best of all was the non-stop catching we did. The five of us caught hundreds of fish, literally hundreds - northern, walleye and lake trout. The owners/hosts, Brent and Erin are passionate about their resort and making sure you have a trip of a lifetime, we sure did!!!

Best fishing excursion ever
Love this place. Erin and Brent are the best hosts. 4 course dinners, flyouts to remote lakes where you catch huge walleye and pike, what's not to love. Call today, you can't go wrong! What really makes a play special is this staff, they are amazing. I also love flying in the 1950s era beaver float plane.

Great fishing trip
Three friends and I just returned from four days of fishing in Northern Manitoba. This year we fished at the Laurie River Lodge out of Lynn Lake, Manitoba. We flew from San Diego, California to Winnipeg and spent the night there. The next morning we took a 96 minute private charter flight to Lynn Lake where we then boarded a float-plane for a 20 minute flight to the Lodge. Brent and Erin Flect are the consummate hosts; the lodging, service and food was outstanding. Fishing was excellent and the shore lunches, prepared by Cree Indian guides who have been there for twenty plus years, were some of the best we have had in the ten years we have been fishing in Northern Manitoba. If you want a first class fishing trip to Northern Manitoba this is the place to visit.

Far Exceeded Expectations
I know there are a number of fishing camps in northern Manitoba and western Ontario. I cannot imagine that any could be better than this one. The travel logistics worked perfectly, the cabins were immaculate, the service and food were incredible, and of course the fishing was spectacular. Get ready to practice not only your casting but also your catching. In four days starting July 6 we caught hundreds of fish, including many large ones. Rory and Rusty were great guides, and Brent was the ultimate host. I understand why most of the people we met in camp were repeaters, some for decades. Thank you Brent!

First Class place to spend a few days.
My husband and I have been here several times and are currently on our 5th day of an 8 day visit. This is an excellent place to come to get lots of top notch fishing for Walleye, Pike and Lake Trout. The lodge is on a large lake and there are several fly out lakes. The customer service is great, the meals are excellent, and you can make some new friends. We always look forward to this trip and hope to make many more.

WOW! That was SOOOOO Nice!
June 2017. My brother and I booked 8 days at the Outcamp at Laurie River Lodge. We were sure we were going to have a great time, but it was even better than we hoped. We booked the Outcamp because we wanted to have the remote, wilderness experience. It was great. It took us a jet, a turboprop and two beavers to get there. We were flown into our own private, 15 mile by 30 mile lake, with endless inlets, coves, bays and points. Brent had built the cabin for serious comfort, so if you want to 'rough' it, don't come here. He had it fully stocked with food and drinks we had arranged. It had a generator for electricity, a fridge and freezer, instant hot water with plenty of pressure, a gas cooking stove with oven, and pretty much extra everything. There were 4 boats with nice 20 HP motors and plenty of fuel. We fished 10-12 hours a day each day with about 3 days of great weather, 3 days of cold, rainy weather and 2 days of PURE HEAVEN weather. We never fished the same spot twice in our 8 days. We caught hundreds of fish. Our biggest was a 39" Northern, but the 5-8 lb Lakers and smaller Pike were plentiful and there was a 'secret' lake we portaged to that provided all the easy catching Walleye you could want. We had a Satellite Phone that we used to contact the lodge each night to confirm we were OK. Brent's service was perfect and complete and a good value. He put much time and thought into the 'manual' on his website with great information about the entire trip. We will be back for more of this someday!

Ultimate Fishing Vacation
After six trips to Laurie River Lodge, this place continues to amaze with world-class fishing. The location, guides and accommodations are wonderful. Brent and Erin are wonderful hosts and our guide, Robin, has been on staff for over 30 years and shares his knowledge and fishing expertise with us. The shore lunches are to die for and recommend doing a fly out experience to one of the other area lakes in this beautiful setting. Can't wait to get back next year!

Fantastic August Fishing Trip
This is the fifth trip for my son and I to Laurie River Lodge and by far our best. We come back because this is a first class lodge run by first class people with a first class staff. We caught 6 trophy fish in 8 days and just missed on a 40 inch pike that was at least as heavy as some of the bigger pike we caught. We caught 200 walleyes in one day, with 2 trophies and an average fish size around 24 inches. The food and accommodations are excellent. My son who is a picky eater just raved over how great the new cook Cam did with everything. The food is always great and one is never hungry. The fishing options are great with over 10 lakes to chose from all with different primary species and characteristics. When not fishing, there is always time for great stories and anecdotes regarding the operation of the lodge, past experiences, and fishing information from the owners & staff. Besides the great fishing experience, the chance my son has to interact with the owners, staff, and other guests provides him great lessons on how hard work, character and a sense of humor play into ones success and happiness. It is so great to be able to escape the heat and humidity of the east coast US in August (when the fishing is tough) and go to beautiful northern Manitoba and have such a great fishing experience.

Unbelievable family fishing trip - A+ across the board!
Hi Brent and Erin: Thank you so much for your fabulous hospitality on our recent family trip to Laurie River Lodge! As in the past, the travel arrangements, accommodations, food, service, boats and motors, guides and fishing were all A+. What I had forgotten all about was the incredible attitude you have instilled in your entire Team. No matter how large or small, serious or trivial the request, everyone had the same response – 'the answer is yes' with a big smile 'and let's figure out how to make it happen for you!!!' I have been to many other fishing lodges and virtually all of them have rules and rigidity that prevents things that are out of the ordinary from happening. At Laurie River Lodge, the extraordinary can and does happen – all the time and with a smile! Your 'can do' attitude was, and continues to be, the peerless value proposition that sets Laurie River Lodge apart from all others. Thanks again to all of your Team for making another fabulous memory! Best regards – The Jacks Family

Best Walleye and Northern destination.
Brent, Erin and staff go out of their way to take care of their clients. This was a return trip and I'm looking forward to returning again. Many lakes are available by float plane, and those available by a short portage are not overfished. I've fished 60 plus years in many states and a few provinces, a couple of other countries and would rate Laurie River's fishing A+. Fishing is outstanding, accommodations are fine with great firm mattresses, fishing guides are knowledgeable and friendly, food varied and well presented, desserts are special.

Amazing Experience at Laurie River Lodge
The entire experience at Laurie River Lodge was superb. Friendly staff, beautiful remote setting, great food (particularly the daily shore lunch!) and very comfortable individual cabins. We went with two other couples and none of us were very experienced, but the friendly and patient guides quickly had us reeling in trophy pike and walleye. We will return!

First Class Fishing Lodge
My brother and I had a terrific time fishing at Laurie River Lodge early this past August. The camp is clean, the cabins spacious and comfortable and the food is well above average. The proprietors, Brent and Erin Fleck, know how to run a first-rate operation. If you are looking for some big-time Northern Pike fishing along with abundant walleye and trophy lake trout, you can't go wrong with Laurie River Lodge. My brother and I caught 5 trophy fish and just missed another by a mere inch. In a span of 8 days we caught (and released) roughly 400 fish. Our Indian guide, Earnest, was knowledgeable and very friendly. He made sure we had an excellent time as did the entire camp's staff. If you are looking for trophy fish but want accommodations and meals that are well above average for fishing lodges, you can't do much better than Laurie River Lodge. Erin, a master float plane pilot, flies guests to a wide number of area lakes, all primitive, pristine and all loaded with big fish. By the way, Laurie River Lodge is somewhat misnamed because it resides on a chain of lakes. The Laurie River is several minutes distant from the lodge by motor boat. Bob H.

Remote Lux Wilderness
I must admit I was a little reluctant to travel so deep into the Manitoba wilds, to go fishing no less! But it was a most amazing experience. Despite the rainy weather we had terrific time. The log cabins are delightfully warm and cozy, the lodge a great place to gather for meals, cocktails, games and puzzles or even a sing song. I can't say enough about our hosts, Erin and Brent and their children and their staff...everyone was so friendly and accommodating. And the fishing was pretty cool, even I got some big ones! The guides are terrific as well, just adored them. I would highly recommend Laurie River Lodge.

Outstanding First-time Fishing Experience
My husband and I experienced our first ever fishing trip in July 2014 at Laurie River Lodge and had an amazing time. Our hosts, Brent and Erin, spared no detail in providing an outstanding and luxuriously comfortable fishing extravaganza. The guides were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, and all equipment was provided. All we had to do was climb into our private fishing boat, with a dedicated guide and a cooler full of drinks, and cast our lines. Having never fished before in my life, I was astonished at how many walleye and northern pike I could catch in a day! Most of them were released, but the daily shore lunch of freshly-caught fish was delectable. The cabins were extremely cozy, warm and comfortable and the food was great. The main lodge provided hot or cold drinks all day long, a blazing fire, and convivial conversation among the guests. The views and landscapes from the lodge and the fishing excursions were tremendous. The evening campfire was a highlight. It was a remarkable and memorable experience, highly recommended. Nina L.

A Pair of 45's
Our 2014 trip to Laurie River Lodge resulted in numerous trophy northern pike and walleye being caught and released including a pair of 45" northern pike. Laurie River Lodge has an excellent series of fly-out lakes and professional guides providing a unique fishing adventure. Besides the great fishing, the accommodations and hospitality provided by Brent and Erin Fleck are outstanding. They go out of their way to make sure your needs and requests are fulfilled. Over the past decade we have grown to appreciate the quality of service provided by Brent and Erin Fleck, their family, and staff. On our first trip my wife Chris had reservations about a remote fishing trip. She was pleasantly surprised that Laurie River Lodge was located in a beautiful setting on a pristine lake. Now our cozy comfortable cabin and the accompanying main lodge have become our home away from home and our four day fishing trip has increased to eight days. Now I have to work extra hard to try to out fish my wife. I think our superb guide Robin has created a trophy fishing machine spouse. We are looking forward to returning in 2015 for our 14th trip to Laurie River Lodge. We are never disappointed in this first class fishing adventure. Fish On!

Home Away from Home
This past summer's trip to Laurie River Lodge was my 21st visit there since 1997. (June 3-8). I have enjoyed myself immensely on every trip. My brothers and I spend a great deal of time, as we have gotten older, fishing for northern pike, walleye and lake trout in Canada. We continue to fish with different outfitters at a variety of lodges. Laurie River Lodge is simply the BEST one for a pure 'Canada Fishing Trip' experience. Brent and Erin Fleck are more passionate about the operation of their lodge and the care for their patrons than anyone in the business. We have fished at lodges that are quite a bit more expensive and some that are less. Laurie River is our favorite, so for the past seventeen years we kickoff our fishing for the summer with our first outing always being LRL. I am already looking forward to next spring and my 22nd trip to Laurie River Lodge.

Fishing at Laurie River Lodge
This fishing lodge is outstanding. Breakfast and dinner are at the lodge and are excellent. Lunch is prepared by your fishing guide on shore, while enjoying your day of fishing on one of their many lakes. The main lake has great fishing but by taking a fly out or portaging (just a walk with your equipment - no carrying of the boats), we were the only boat on the lake. The fishing guides are knowledgeable and know where the fish are. The staff is friendly and service very good. I've been there 3 times and plan to go back.
