Summarized Review Highlights

Rusty Myers Flying Service receives overwhelmingly positive reviews from guests, with multiple reviewers describing it as the best fly-in outfitter they have used after trying several others. The overall sentiment is one of strong loyalty and satisfaction, with guests indicating they would not consider going elsewhere for a fly-in fishing trip.

Guests consistently highlight the quality of the fishing experience. Reviewers describe near-constant action, with walleye catches ranging widely from 15-inch fish up to the 24-inch range depending on the spots fished. The operation offers access to around 10 outpost destinations, including Wabakimi Lake, which has been featured on outdoor television. The staff and ownership are praised for professionalism and hospitality, with one reviewer specifically calling them "a class act."

Based on the available reviews, there are no recurring complaints or concerns to report — every reviewer gave the highest rating and expressed genuine enthusiasm. It is worth noting that the review sample is small and skews positive, so prospective guests may want to seek additional sources for a fuller picture. This destination appears best suited for walleye anglers looking for a classic Ontario fly-in outpost experience, whether they are seasoned fly-in veterans wanting a reliable operation or first-timers looking to make the fly-in experience a reality. Groups of fishing buddies and those interested in remote, self-guided outpost-style trips seem to be the core audience.

Another wonderful week at Ignace Outposts
This month I took my 6th fly-in trip with Ignace Outposts during the last 15 years. I've never been disappointed. Every trip has been a unique experience. They operate cabins on a number of remote lakes in the Canadian wilderness. I've stayed at Tri Lake 3 times, Irene twice and now Metionga. If you plan to go, I recommend reviewing the unique features of each lake on their website and consulting with owners Brad and Karen Greaves to determine the best fit for your group. This trip included myself and my wife in one cabin, and my brother and his son in an adjoining cabin. My wife and I were mostly interested in canoeing, birdwatching and nature photography, while my brother and his son were more interested in fishing and boating. Brad made sure that my wife and I had a good canoe on a quiet neighboring lake (it's called Little Metionga but actually about 3 miles long), while my brother and his son used a fishing boat with a new 15 horse motor on Metionga and two adjoining lakes. It was a perfect arrangement that allowed everyone to satisfy their interests. We stayed for 6 days, thoroughly enjoyed every day and found plenty to satisfy our diverse interests. I got some great nature photos including wolves and spruce grouse. My brother and his son caught good-size walleyes for our dinners and a few very nice northern pike. Early September is a great time to go – almost no bugs and very few people. This trip requires a drive to Ignace, Ontario, about 150 miles northwest of Thunder Bay. From there the floatplane took us about 60 miles to Lake Metionga.

Brad and Karen, Thanks again for another spectacular late season vacation. Look forward to next year. Sent some of the pictures we took on the trip. You guys are very accommodating in all aspects of making sure we had a great fishing experience. Randy was a great guide on the trip to Metionga. First time we have seen a bear and a moose on the same flight. Thanks much, MS
